Beyond the Surface, The Silent Threat of Plastic on the Environment
Did you ever feel the urge to escape from the daily life chaos to a beautiful beach where the waves gently lapping at the shore? It’s a kind of a scene that everyone of us need to escape our stressful days. Now, shift your focus to another scene where the plastic bottles thrown on the shore and the plastic bags are floating on the ocean, making the world in a great shock from how the plastic has reached to become a great threat to our environment. Plastic is already an integral part of our daily life, but a lot of people turn blind eye on how dangerous plastic could negatively affect the oceans and the environment. In this blog, we will unravel how plastic is a great threat to our environment, dives deep into the consequences of plastic pollution that extend far beyond what meets our eyes.
Plastic nowadays become a main issue in every aspect of our life. There are estimated that 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic enters the ocean and about 269,000 tons floating on the surface. The core of the problem is clear, every single use of the plastic create more danger than it's helpful. The pollution of plastic not only harm the environment surface, it also harms the nature because it pollutes the oceans and the water, puts animals and marine life into great risks and it threats the balance of the ecosystem contributing a wide range of environmental issues. The problems of plastic are unseen and a lot of us are unaware of how it's damaging our life and the future so, we need to be fully aware and try to understand that the convenience of using plastic come with a cost and its the time to change and learn more about its other negative side.
The Unseen Impact of Micro-plastics Contamination:
Imagine the world where a very little pieces of plastics weave their way into the nature without us feeling this and have no idea what it could cause. Those tiny pieces of plastic are called micro-plastics. Micro-plastics are little particles of plastics, often its 5 milliliter or less that results from the breaking down the large pieces of plastic as bottles or bags and this little particles begin to weave their ways to our oceans, water and even soil. Not all of us will see this as a serous danger, this is because we are not aware of the full story of how micro plastics could harm our lives. These micro-plastics sneaks to the oceans and the marine life mistake them as their food and it leads to the loss of biodiversity later on. All of these unseen threats make people lack the knowledge of how these micro plastics could threat our life now and on the long-term.
